about

This track is my latest fascination. The guitar arrangement is different than anything I've done, so I am stoked that it's coming together! The main riff came out of an outro from a totally bossa nova style different jam.
I remember loving the "umpah" bass line and recording a voice memo with the first line: "there's a moment in my head/what I should've done instead." Eventually, I built in a change and wrote around the woulda/coulda concept.

lyrics

Woulda Coulda

there's a moment in my head
what I should have done instead
woulda coulda don't mean shit no more
yet I keep opening that door

I cannot be blamed
for superhuman fantasies
fantasy fantasy
What I haven't attained
It's killing me
killing me killing me

Chorus:
I'll never live up
to my personal best
No excuse to give up
it's all in my head

No need to get hung up
on trying to impress
I'd rather die a martyr
than live self-obsessed

Verse 2:
I wanted to be so much more
without knowing what I wanted it for
woulda could don't mean shit no more

Chorus
